© Shubhankar  Adhikari  (Artist ) 2012
Watercolour painting on hand-made paper ( 15" x 22")

This is my painting from Rural Bengal series . I recently visited Gadiara a fortnight ago to get some real inspiration from nature. I discovered this beautiful place while roaming and made some initial sketch .Later I transformed that sketch into a  painting in my studio . The weather was very nice .This place is near the confluence of river Hooghly and Rupnarayan in Howrah district.

Wish you all a very happy Diwali.

GADIARA

GADIARA
acrylic and ink on handmade paper (11' x 15' )

Gadiara is a beautiful small town in Howrah district ,West Bengal. A good place to stay for a day or two. Last year I visited the place . It is situated at the confluence of the Hooghly and Rupnarayan rivers. I found the typical village atmosphere there. The river is extremely wide. There I had watched the 18th century british fort ruins ,light house, brick fields, paddy fields, boats, big ships, birds ,trees etc.etc. I made this painting  from a reference photo I snapped there .
